Adding and organizing your product listings can be the most time-consuming stage of setting up a Shopify store, depending on how many products you plan to offer. However, organizing your store is worth the effort: a well-organized store is easier to navigate for your customers, making it easier for them to find the products they want quickly.
Add more products to your store
Adding additional products to your store follows the same steps as adding the first.
Steps:
1. To access the Products page in your Shopify admin, click Products.
2. Select Add product from the Products page.
3. Enter a title for your product as well as some extra information. The way your products seem to customers is affected by product details. They also help clients find what you’re selling and make it easier for you to organize your products. In addition to product titles, Product descriptions, photos, prices, delivery information, weight, and other information are some of the items you may want to enter.
4. Save the product by clicking the Save button.
Organize your products
You can organize your products into product collections to make them easier to find for your customers. You can make the following kinds of collections, for example:
- Men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing
- a specific sort of item, such as lamps, cushions, or rugs
- items that are on sale
- a set of items of a specific size or color
- Holiday cards and decorations are examples of seasonal products.
Steps:
1. Click Create collection from the Collections page.
2. Create the collection a title and a description.
3. To make the collection available on certain channels, go to Sales channels and select from your active sales channels. Your Shopify online store, Shopify POS, Messenger, Amazon, Buy Button, and other sales channels are examples of sales channels.
4. Select whether products will be added manually or automatically to the collection. Later on, you will not be able to change the collection type.
5. If you choose Automated, then under Conditions, add the selection criteria.
6. Save the collection by clicking the Save button.
7. You will be able to add products if you are establishing a manual collection. After you’ve finished adding products, make sure you click Save. You can add the same item to as many separate collections as you want.
8. If you’re creating an automatic collection, products that match your requirements will be added automatically. From the drop-down menu, select a sort order, then click Save.
Add “About us” and “Contact us” to your store’s information pages
You can establish pages for your store to offer that content a permanent location if you have information you want your consumers to know that won’t change frequently, such as details about your organization or contact information for your store.
Steps:
1. Go to Online Store > Pages in your Shopify admin.
2. Add a new page by clicking the Add button. You’ll be sent to a webpage editor.
3. Fill in the text boxes available in the webpage editor with a Title and Content.
When choosing a title for your website, be descriptive and clear. The title of a webpage appears in the tab or title bar of most browsers. In search engine results, it is also used as the title.
4. You may pick whether or not you want your webpage to be published in the Visibility field. When you click Save, your new webpage will be visible by default. If you want your new webpage to be hidden from your online store, choose Hidden. If you want to control when your webpage is published, choose Set a specified publish date.
5. Click the Save button.
To your store, add a menu and links
To assist your customers in exploring your store, you’ll need a menu and links. The main menu includes links to the Home and Catalog pages by default, and the footer menu includes a link to the Search page.
Steps:
1. Go to Online Store > Navigation in your Shopify admin.
2. Click the name of the menu you want to edit on the Navigation page.
3. Add a menu item by clicking the Add button.
4. A new menu item with two new fields will appear. Put the name of the link you want to add in the Name area. This is the name that will appear in the menu.
5. Select a link type from the drop-down menu next to the link name:
- Your online store’s home page will be linked from your home page.
- A link to a specific collection is called a collection link.
- All collections links you to a index of all of your collections.
- Product links direct to a specific product.
- All products have a link to all products.
- Your online store’s page links to a specific webpage.
- Your online store’s blog is linked to a blog.
- A search page for your online store is linked from the search page.
- Web Address links to a site that is not part of your online store.
A drop-down option will show beside the Link field if you select Collection, Product, Page, or Blog. This drop-down menu allows you to choose the exact destination you want to add to the navigation.
A text area will display beside the Link field if you pick Web address. Enter the URL of the webpage you want to see.
6. Click Save menu.
